you didn't have to tell me.
July 23, 2017

You didn't have to tell me, because your actions spoke volumes.
You didn't have to let me know that closeness was no longer something you wanted.
You didn't have to tell me, because I already knew before we parted ways that day.
I suppose you tried to tell me, tried to tell me with your actions.
Silly me, all self-assuring and awake, trusting something as silly as our flimsy foundation.
You didn't have to tell me that the things I did didn't really matter,
nor that not even half of what I gave would be returned.
You didn't have to tell me 'cause I always assumed you knew that we were no better as humans split in two.
